Probable Migraine Headaches, formerly known as Migrainous Headaches,
are simply headaches that fail to fulfill the criteria of Migraine without
aura
because they
are
missing
one element.
You must
still have 5 headaches that last from 4 hours to 72 hours.
Occasionally an individual headache meets the criteria for both probable
migraine and tension headache. By ICHD rules, the probable migraine should
be thrown out. I personally feel this is a mistake and I suspect most
patients who are in this situation actually do have migraine. I think
the best way to be sure of the diagnosis is to answer a diagnostic headache
questionaire during a headache.
